Jillian Shaw Plomin studied theatre and political science at Purdue University and began her writing career in political speechwriting and communications before moving into advertising and branding. A playwright and theatre director, she has written multiple plays and worked in community and youth theatre. Blade of Baz is her first novel and the opening book in the Legends of Gaeltach series.
Blade of Baz is the first installment in the Legends of Gaeltach series, a YA-leaning portal fantasy that follows two siblings who are drawn from an ordinary contemporary setting into a fully realized secondary world shaped by old rivalries, contested histories, and living legend. The novel focuses less on puzzle-box plotting and more on atmosphere, character perspective, and the experience of arriving “new” into a place where stories and symbols carry real weight.
