Bram Stoker’s Drácula is the definitive Gothic horror novel — the story that fixed the vampire in the modern imagination, told through letters and journals with a dread that has never faded.
When young solicitor Jonathan Harker travels to a remote castle in the Carpathian Mountains to finalize a property sale for the enigmatic Count Dracula, he slowly realizes he is a prisoner of something ancient and monstrous. Told through journals, letters, ship’s logs, and newspaper clippings, Stoker’s novel follows the Count’s voyage to England and the shadow he casts over everyone in his path — from the doomed Lucy Westenra to the resolute Mina Harker.
Against him stands a small band of the determined and the brave, led by the eccentric Dutch doctor Abraham Van Helsing, in a pursuit that races from London’s asylums and graveyards back to the mountains of Transylvania. Published in 1897, Drácula fixed the vampire permanently in the modern imagination and remains the towering achievement of Gothic horror — a novel of dread, devotion, and the collision of modern science with ancient evil that has never gone out of print.
