This novella began as a short story, my first real foray into speculative fiction. At the time, I didn’t think of it as science fiction. It was just a story about people, about longing and rhythm, set somewhere unfamiliar. It sat on my laptop for five years before I submitted it to a competitive anthology called 21 Futures. It was selected. I was delighted.

    Then something changed.

I began writing professionally about digital twins. Not of infrastructure or data systems, but of people, real people. Lifelike replicas trained on memory, personality, and voice. The more I learned, the more I realised the core of my story had always been about this. About what it means to endure. To be remembered. To love in strange places.

So I returned to Daria. To her emporium. To the music that outlives grief.

The result is this expanded novella. It is part memory, part resistance, part love letter to something we can’t always explain.

Digital twins may seem uncanny. The future might look bizarre. But love is still love, even on Mars.

    Descripción

On a fading Martian colony, Daria runs a dance studio where gravity isn’t the only thing out of step. As life inside the dome begins to crumble, rhythm becomes rebellion, and memory becomes more than just something you hold onto, it becomes someone.

Delia’s Delightful Dancing Emporium is a lyrical, speculative novella about love, resistance, and what it means to be remembered. In a world of digital twins and quiet revolutions, one woman’s story dares to dance beyond the edge of forgetting.

I have been a writer since I was very little.  I had no doubt as to this career in my first decade of life.  On entering my teens, I was just as adamant but strangely found little time to actually write fiction, only a few scattered attempts echoing whatever book I happened to be reading at the time. It was as I approached my forties, I suddenly went ‘Whoa! Where are my novels?’ and realised for all my talk I hadn’t actually started let alone finished any novels.  In my final year of my… Seguir leyendo
