Pascuala Herrera spent 30 years as a Professor and Accessibility Specialist at Harper College and now works full-time as a consultant and author of the memoir "Not Always a Valley of Tears." Born in Mexico and immigrating to the United States at age six, she has overcome the challenges of childhood polio, which left her physically disabled and using a motorized wheelchair. She earned her BA in Sociology and M.Ed in Reading and Learning Disabilities from DePaul University in Chicago. Pascuala frequently presents locally and nationally on disability awareness, motivation, and the importance of education for individuals with disabilities and Latino students.
She has received numerous accolades for her contributions, including being named Distinguished Faculty in 2019, the highest honor for a faculty member at Harper College. Leading by example, as a Latina disabled woman, inspires and motivates others to believe that the impossible can sometimes become possible.
